BVSLWE02 -- Retrofit Motor for Ball Valve (LoRa P2P)
Product Description
This motor converts existing ball valve shut-off valves into intelligent water control devices. An innovative clamping mechanism allows installation within minutes without additional tools on shut-off valves with pipe diameters between 0.5 and 1.5 inches. A patented coupling mechanism delivers up to 8 Nm of torque to operate even rusty and aged valves.
Key Features:
- Water and dust protected (IP66) up to the power supply, suitable for humid, dirty, and outdoor environments
- Automatic weekly valve exercise: one close/open movement (1/8 turn) removes deposits in the valve
- Rotation angle measurement and end position detection
- Slow approach to end positions to minimize friction
- External 12 V power supply via waterproof connector
- Optional wired leak sensor can be connected
- Control via local button or directly from the Aqua-Scope Monitor via LoRa
- LoRa control (P2P); direct control via a LoRaWAN network is not possible -- for this, BVSLWE01 is required
LoRa P2P
LoRa P2P is a special protocol based on LoRa. Unlike LoRaWAN, it requires no network infrastructure and enables direct communication between individual devices.
In the Aqua-Scope system, LoRa P2P is used to communicate between sensors and motors independently of any network infrastructure such as Wi-Fi or LoRaWAN. Thanks to LoRa, this wireless connection is very robust and easily bridges radio links even into deep basements.
This device can therefore only be used for direct communication with other Aqua-Scope devices. The respective devices must be paired with each other, which is done either via the Aqua-Scope App or by pressing buttons.
For every LoRa P2P device, there is also a corresponding LoRaWAN device that can be used directly in a LoRaWAN network.
Installation
- Disconnect the device from power
- Select the correct fork side matching the valve handle width
- Ensure that the clamping knobs and handle point in opposite directions (the handle must be able to move freely)
- Tighten the clamps by hand while holding the BVS in place
- Optional: Remove the dust cap and connect the local water sensor
- Connect the DC adapter to the BVS power cable, tighten the waterproof seal
- Plug the power adapter into a 230 V outlet
Adjusting the Pipe Clamps
The pipe clamps are positioned in the center of the bracket as shipped. They can be shifted to the right or left by tightening them fully while not mounted on the pipe. Shifting them adjusts them to different pipe thicknesses.
For even larger pipes, the clamps can be replaced with a pair of larger clamps with SKU BVSCMP01 (available in the shop). This enables operation on pipes up to 2 inches.
Calibration
The device measures the rotation angle and end positions of the handle to approach the endpoints gently and avoid mechanical stress. Each time the device is powered on, it first performs a calibration run.
Procedure: Press the button once to start the process. Observe the handle movements. After 10--20 seconds, the device is ready for operation.
Calibration requires the BVS to be mounted on a ball valve. Without a valve, calibration will abort and handle operation (button and radio command) is disabled.
External Water Sensor
Optional wired water sensor. The socket is located on the power cable next to the motor.
- Remove the blue/white protective pad
- Plug in the sensor firmly (firm pressure ensures a waterproof connection)
When water is detected:
- Flood alarm is triggered, LED flashes red
- Depending on configuration: valve closes automatically or maintains current position
- Clear alarm: Hold button for 2 seconds or via LoRa command
The flood sensor can be extended with a 1.5 m extension ALIEXT01 (available in the shop).
Manual Operation
The device has a single button with a built-in tri-color LED.
- Short click: Toggle valve (open/close)
- Hold for several seconds: Continuous operation (the BVS assists with counting seconds by beeping every second)
- Hold for 2 seconds (2 beeps): Deactivate alarm
The device is designed for outdoor use and must prevent malfunctions caused by water droplets. Therefore, please press the button firmly, even for a short click.
